About Me
Howdy! My name is Dr. Robert Parks and I am Professor Parks PhD.
I knew I wanted to become an astronomer in the 7th grade after reading about Dr. Vera Rubin's discovery of dark matter. While my specific interests within astronomy have changed over the years, my passion for learning what lies beyond our night sky near has.
I currently focus my time teaching undergraduates as an Assistant Professor at George Mason University. I also serve as the Deputy Director of the George Mason Observatories where I serve as the point person for our public outreach programs. My research interests include the evolution of protostars and stellar magnetic fields.
I received my bachelor's degree from the University of Florida in 1998 and earned a PhD in Astronomy from Georgia State University in 2014.
